Course Objectives ENG 102 is a compulsory course for first year students. It follows an integrated approach in terms of language skills and it is modular in nature. The teaching methodology is based on input (readinglistening) to output (speakşngwriting). By the end of the semester, students finish two main modules, which are reading and writing. In the reading module, students learn how to read effectively to determine relevant and required information. In the writing module, the focus is on equipping students with the necessarry skills needed to write different academic essay styles.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will be able to scan a text
  • Will be able to write a quote/paraphrase/summary using different texts
  • Will be able identify the main idea of a text
  • Will be able to guess the meaning of unknown words
  • Will be able to make inferences
  • Will be able to write definitions and classifications
  • Will be able to write cause-effect essay
  • Will be able to write an argumentative essay
Course Description This course aims at equipping students with skills related to two main aspects of Academic English, which are reading and academic writing.
