Course Objectives This course aims to teach basic legal concepts, institutions and principles in English. In this way, students also could understand the basic legal texts in English.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Define basic legal terms in English.
  • Explain why the law exists, how it fits into the rules of social order, its functions and tools in English.
  • Express how the rules of law are applied, how legal interpretation is made, what legal presumptions are, and how the burden of proof is determined in English
  • Understand English legal texts at a basic level and translate them into Turkish.
  • Discuss the rights and obligations of individuals, when these rights and obligations arise and expire, and the penalties that can be imposed on individuals in English.
  • Explain each branch of the law, and particularly the basic principles of each branch at a basic level in English.
Course Description The content of this course consists of basic legal concepts and principles in general and legal concepts and principles to each specific branch of law.
