Course Objectives At the end of the course, students are aimed to learn the effects of culture on health, transcultural nursing models, to provide nursing care for different cultures with the integration of cultural competence into nursing education and practice.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • To be able to discuss the effect of culture on people, health and disease and the factors affecting it,
  • To be able to comprehend the relationship between religion, culture and health,
  • Define the definition, purpose, importance and historical development of intercultural nursing,
  • Interpret the cultural competence and development process,
  • To create intercultural nursing models and usage areas,
  • Explain the health practices for different cultures in the world,
  • Evaluate different cultures and health approaches in Turkey,
  • Will be able to explain cultural diversity and health practices in Turkey.
Course Description Course Description This course covers the concept of health, illness and culture, the cultural factors affecting health and illness, the relationship between religion, health and culture, the definition, purpose, importance and historical development of intercultural nursing, cultural competence and development process, intercultural nursing models and usage areas in the world. Covers different cultures, different cultures and health approaches in Turkey, cultural diversity and health practices in Turkey.
