Course Objectives This course aims to provide students with current and evidence-based knowledge about the duties, authorities and responsibilities of the operating room nurse, patient and employee safety in the operating room, and nursing care of intensive care patients.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • list duties, responsibilities and authority of the operating room nurse;
  • explain the patient and staff safety in the operating room;
  • discuss the patient care process in the operating room;
  • describe the basic concepts of intensive care units;
  • explain the appropriate nursing approaches to the systemic problems of the patient followed up in intensive care unit;
  • define the nutritional needs of the patient followed up in intensive care unit;
  • discuss appropriate nursing approaches in unconscious patient care.
Course Description This course covers the fundamental principles of operating room structure, architecture and management, patient positions in the operating room, task authority and responsibilities of the operating room nurse, patient and staff safety in the operating room, cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological problems and nursing care in intensive care patients, appropriate nursing approaches in unconscious patient care, nutritional requirements of intensive care patients.
