Course Objectives It aims that the students can evaluate the health by gain the necessary the knowledge, attitudes and skills for health diagnosis and nutrition and to evaluate health.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • take the individual's comprehensive health history
  • evaluate individual life patterns according to developmental periods
  • make the systematic evaluation of the individual with a holistic approach
  • list basic food items
  • explain the importance of healthy and balanced nutrition
  • relate the nutritional status in some special cases (pregnancy, lactation, infancy, old age)
  • relate the nutritional status in some health problems (diabetes, chronic renal failure, cancer).
Course Description This course contains the role of the cultures in assessing health, methods used for health evaluation, having the health story, physical examination, evaluation of life findings according to developmental periods, evaluating the individual's systemic and spiritual / social orientation from head to toe, and also food groups, body mass index, basal metabolism energy, calculation of daily energy requirement, nutrition education, nutrition recommendations in special situations and disease states.
