Course Objectives To introduce basic theory of error correcting codes and to provide applications of algebraic topics to coding theory.
Course Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • will be able to describe an error correcting code.
  • will be able to design algebraic codes of given parameters.
  • will be able to explain relevant bounds on parameters,
  • will be able to apply geometric methods to construct better codes.
Course Content This course provides an introduction to the theory of algebraic codes. Topics are based on algebraic function fields and geometric methods.
