The IEEE Computer Society defines software engineering as “the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software; that is, the application of engineering to software”. The software engineering program at IEU implements the university's mission by facilitating the personal and professional growth of its students so that they can become effective contributors to the engineering profession and to society as a whole. Graduates of the software engineering program will be able to unite theory with practice, be prepared and motivated to engage in lifelong learning, and have a solid foundation in mathematics and science.
